Dating a girl with daddy issues

27 Jan

People commonly say a woman has daddy issues when she appears to be seeking attention from men in order to compensate for the attention she may not have received from her father when she was growing up.

As adults such women often turn out to be insecure, hungry for attention and even sexually promiscuous.

While a woman may seem to have it all together at first glance, there are certain characteristics women with daddy issues display – and if you’re not sure, the following may be a few of the signs.

This question may be a little awkward but I am curious about the psychology on this one... Well I am 20 and female and I'm dating a man 21 years older than me. I don't wish to get into it too deeply but just to scratch the surface I do not at all...

On the other hand, in a patriarchal society, the father protects and educates the child about the nasty ways of the world.

A girl who has never had a male figure in her life to look out for her or has had a strained relationship with her father, is often affected somehow.

The collateral damage that is inflicted on her psyche may take the shape of bad decisions, attraction towards older men, and general distrust in males. ‘Daddy issues’ is rather misleading a term to refer to what is wrong with a person. We become the person that we are because of everything that happens to us.

On the other hand, it can signal that you’re about to embark on a clusterfuck rollercoaster ride with a head case—that’ll likely end with the cops coming to your house, you having to repaint your car, or having to call Verizon Wireless to block a number from reaching your “handset.” Whether she’s the product of an absentee father she’s constantly looking to replace or some transparently Freudian princess complex, you should know how to recognize a girl with daddy issues. It’s no secret that all girls like rough sex, to a degree, but your daddy-issues case will take that truism to a whole other level. That doesn’t just mean changing their Facebook profile picture every other day, it means being turning up on the Girls Gone Wild commercial or doing porn despite her upper-middle-class, suburban upbringing.

Some believe that it is a popular derivative of a psychological concept developed by Carl Jung - the Electra complex – which denotes a woman’s sexual attachment to her father and a corresponding competitive hostility toward her mother.

In popular culture though, daddy issues, refers to a whole complex of abandonment issues that a woman develops upon being rejected or even ignored by her father in childhood.

Whether someone descends into a low point in her life because she is a girl with daddy issues or because of all the other unpleasant experiences that she has gone through in life cannot be determined for sure.

However, it’s nice to be nice to people regardless of what they have gone through.
